Today I have a few products that I find to be really good life savers for harsh winter skin. Byebye winter face!
Most people men and women included struggle with dried out skin during the winter, it's normally due to harsh cold wind and temperature change. This year your skin may be taking more of a battering than normal because we have fucked the planet sideways and the weather can no longer make it's mind up.
The only thing that is going to help repair your skin is moisture internally and externally. You need to hydrate yourself, drink up to 8pints of cold water a day to keep your skin in top condition and moisturise at least twice a day, sometimes three if your skin is feeling particularly sore. Try to avoid exfoliation whilst your skin is dry and cracked. Really we should exfoliate once to twice a week depending on skin type, but sometimes it can be too harsh on skin. Using a 'muslin cloth' daily to wash skin after removing makeup is a great natural and gentle exfoliant.
Avoiding heavy makeup or scented moisturisers will also help.
I.E; that Ted Baker body lotion you got for Christmas is not good for your face. Don't use it.
Using more than one type of moisturiser for your skin will also help too.
For me every evening, I follow these few simple steps:
- Take off make-up and wash face using clean damp muslin cloth (I really like Champneys, they're available in a two pack from Boots for £5.)
- Cleanse skin using a cleanser that matches your skin type. I'm currently using 'Clarins - Water purify one steap cleanser with mint essential water'
- Tone skin, personally I really like ' Lush - Eau Roma Water'.
- Use three drops of facial/beauty oil on a cotton pad, gently massage into the face and neck.
- Apply 'Clarins beauty flash balm.' (This step is optional but I love this product)
- Then finally moisturise with either 'Embryolisse - lait-crème concentré or Lush - skin drink.'
Now I know SIX steps may read as an awful lot of work but it's the lesser of two evils, and your skin will feel so ridiculously soft in the morning. As always I wasn't sponsored to talk about any of these products, and I've been using some of them for about a year. Take the time and spend the money when choosing skincare products, just because it's good for Sally it doesn't mean it's good for Sue! I'll leave links below for all products listed!
